The Blood of Dawnwalker (September 3 — Xbox Series X, PC, PS5)
The Blood of Dawnwalker has been one of our most-covered games all year, and for good reason — a dark fantasy RPG from Rebel Wolves, a studio built by former CD Projekt Red veterans who worked on The Witcher 3. That pedigree alone would be enough to get attention, but everything shown so far suggests they're not just chasing that legacy, they're building something with its own identity. Silent Hill: Townfall (September 24 — PC, PS5)
Silent Hill: Townfall might be the most anticipated horror game of the year, full stop. Developed by No Code with Akira Yamaoka back on score duty, Townfall represents Konami's continued, genuinely surprising commitment to reviving Silent Hill properly after years of the franchise being left for dead. Early details suggest a new protagonist and a new town, not a retread of familiar territory — which is either exactly what this series needs or a risk that could alienate longtime fans. Either way, this is appointment horror.
Marvel's Wolverine (September 15 — PS5)
Marvel's Wolverine is Insomniac doing what Insomniac does — taking a character everyone thought they understood and building a game that finally does him justice. After two excellent Spider-Man games, the studio's reputation is about as strong as it gets in the industry, and Wolverine's brutal, close-quarters combat style seems tailor-made for their approach to traversal and combat feel. Onimusha: Way of the Sword (September 4 — Xbox Series X, PC, PS5)
Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks Capcom's full return to the series after years of only re-releases and collections. This is a new entry, not a remaster, and it's launching with an absolutely enormous cosmetic content slate — multiple Deluxe editions, character charms, sword appearances, and outfit variants numbering in the dozens. That's a lot of monetization surface area for a single-player action game, which is worth keeping an eye on, but the core swordplay footage shown so far looks sharp, fast, and faithful to what made the original PS2 trilogy click.
Control Resonant (September 24 — Xbox Series X, PC, PS5)
Control Resonant continues Remedy's ongoing expansion of the Control universe, arriving the same day as Silent Hill: Townfall in what's shaping up to be the single busiest release day of the month. Remedy's recent output has been consistently strong, and Control's blend of bureaucratic horror and reality-bending combat remains one of the more distinctive identities in the genre. EA Sports FC 27 (September 18 — Xbox Series X, PC, PS5, Switch)
EA Sports FC 27 arrives with Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Edition tiers, continuing the world's biggest sports franchise under its post-FIFA branding. Whatever your feelings on the yearly release model, FC remains a cultural fixture, and this entry reportedly focuses on refined player movement and an overhauled career mode.
Minecraft Dungeons II (September 29 — Xbox Series X, PC, PS5, Switch)
Minecraft Dungeons II returns to the dungeon-crawler spin-off formula years after the original found a dedicated but modest audience. A Deluxe Edition is also available. Whether this sequel expands meaningfully on the first game's loop or plays it safe remains to be seen.
